But please note the following:

- On EIB installations, your elektro installer has put his know how in the installation. Normally, he should give you some description of the installation, if not the ETS project itself. He will maybe not give you the reasons for why the things are the way he did them. These are the details in which his expertise lays and that's not different in an antique installation.

- To ETS: The product and project information should be available from your installer (which products, physical addresses, group addresses, parameter settings, ...). The way these are stored in the database is not available: EIBA does not document that. It's like Microsoft Word... I use it intensively, but Microsoft never documented the binary file format to me.

Selbstverständlich haben Sie das Recht. Sie haben auch das Recht Ihr Wagen um zu ändern... Es geht sich nur darum ob Sie das auf dem richtigen Weg tun (lizens) und wer die Verantwortung denn hat für das Projekt.

Z.B. die Firma bei der ich arbeite stellt Steuerungsysteme für Maschinen her, ich glaube nicht, dass wir auch nur eine Steuerung an die Automobilindustrie verkauft hätten mit dieser Taktik.

Very nice example. Thank you. Suppose the customer modifies the steering of such a machine and a worksman gets killed... You then need a very good agreement about what can be modified. That discussion is not yet closed, so there is no standard solution. But ... see other threads.

we program also plc's.

we give all files to customer on cd. if we come to a visit based on problems, we first start a verify run of plc and cd.

if there are differences, we are free. we program the version of cd. we have had this case two times ago, the customer becomes very small.

insert in the ets a support function like verify run for database and exported project.

at the moment the secretful discussion is real problem. a verify tool is good way a for more normal customer relationship.

there are enough tools in the internet for verify files.
