was ist eigentlich genau der Unterschied zwischen einem BCU und einer BIM?

BCU = Bus Coupling Unit
Has:
a. a housing (for mounting in the wall, on DIN-rail, ...)
b. a bus connector (WAGO, DIN-rail)
c. a PEI with PEI-connector
d. a programming button
e. a programming LED
f. Certain measures (foils) for EMC

BIM = Bus Interface Module
The same as a BCU, without a, b, c, d, e and f.
Normally, BCUs can be used in the installation. BIMs are building blocks on which developers base to make KNX devices. With a BCU, you typically have a modular device (BCU + Application Module), with a BIM, the device is typical one piece, not modular.
