Mit ETS Starter nicht jedes EIB-Gerät projektierbar?

Hallo Forum,

für eine Grundausstattung, um endlich einmal spielerisch Erfahrungen mit EIB sammeln zu können, hatte ich die "ETS Starter" geplant gehabt.

Auf http://www.eibmarkt.com/cgi-bin/eibmarkt.storefront/42bab7d1002ecba0273f50f3361c06b1/Product/View/N370179# (auf's Info-i rechts klicken) habe ich nun aber gelesen, dass sich ETS Start und Professional so unterscheiden, dass nicht mit beiden die Projektierung aller EIB-Geräte möglich ist (wie z.B. Siemens Netzteil 5WG1 125 - spielt angeblich nicht mit ETS Starter zusammen).

Ich dachte immer, die ETS Starter und Professional würden sich nur in der Anzahl der Busteilnehmer unterscheiden!?

Brauch ich für Starter und Professional unterschiedliche PDBs?

Es wäre nett, wenn mich hier jemand erleuchten könnten. :)

Heißt das, auch für einen grundlegenden Einstieg in EIB ist die ETS Starter eigentlich nicht geeignet?

Planung für meine Grundausstattung ist:
- Netzteil mit Drossel
- PC-Interface RS232
- 4-fach Schaltaktor (schaltet zwei Steckdosen oder Lampen)
- 4-fach Taster

Kriegt man sowas mit der ETS-Starter in den Griff?

Hi dundee,


Für die Starter gibt es eine andere PDB ( Produktdatenbank) als wie für die Pro.
Es gibt nicht für alle Geräte eine PDB für die Starter.
Manche Geräte sind bei der Starter bei den Funktionen eingeschränkt.
Natürlich kann man die Geräteliste in der Starter auch erweitern, verschiedene Herstellen bieten eine PDB für die Starter zum Download.
Manche Geräte benötigen keine PDB, wie z.B. die von dir genannte Spannungsversorgung.


Für deine Grundaustatung ist die Starter ok.

genau, dann lernst Du wenigstens von vorneherein das richtige Werkzeug kennen. Keine Einschränkungen.

Und es wird dir ohnehin gefallen, wenn Du erstmal angefangen hast.

Die Starter-Version würde zwar grundsätzlich für den Einstieg reichen (heisst ja auch Starter ;)), aber sie ist nicht zu empfehlen!

Nimm die ETSpro, dann weisst Du was du hast:D

Weiss nicht, was die EIBA da geritten hat - es wäre geschickter gewesen, die selben Datenbanken zu verwenden und vielleicht auf max. 2 Linien oder eine gewisse Anzahl an Geräte zu beschränken. Aber so ist die Starter im Grunde reiner Schrott:mad:.

Ich denke, die wollten einfach mehr Elektriker gewinnen, einen "preiswerten" Einstieg zu machen.

Doch dann soll kurzfristig auf PRO umgestellt werden.

So eine Art EINSTIEGSDROGE, ähnlich wie Dunkelbier. Hinterher trinkt man nur noch richtiges.:D

This can very well be done with the ETS 3 Starter and I have shown many times that the result can be achieved even faster than with the ETS 3 Professional.
The databases have the same format as for ETS 3 Professional. Only, databases for ETS 3 Starter contain MORE information. Both ETS 3 Starter and ETS 3 Professional use databases in the format of vd3 for importing products. Both store the project - and product information in the same database format of eib.db.
It is possible to continue a product for ETS 3 Starter with ETS 3 Professional. But once you have modified it with ETS 3 Professional, you can no longer use it with ETS 3 Starter.
NOTE ETS 3 Professionla CAN import the older product database formats vd2 and vd3.
NOTE It is of course the choice of the EIB manufacturers how many databases they deliver. If a manufacturer decides to keep things simple and provide a database with only products for ETS 3 Starter, then that is his choice. As user, you only have to make sure that you are using a product database (.vd3) that contains products for ETS 3 Starter. The manufacturers properly indicate this on their website.

ETS 3 Starter = € 149
Upgrade ETS 3 Starter to ETS 3 Professional = € 755
SUM = € 904

ETS 3 Professional = € 895

So, for € 9 difference, you can have results without any course ... Why don't you try it? If you don't like ETS 3 Starter, you loose little and can always learn about Physical Addresses, Group Addresses, Communication Objects and Parameters and upgrade to ETS 3 Professional.

ETS 3 Starter = € 149

That's the point: I'll use the ETS for personal use only.
And for this, I must say, are 895,- € very much money!

The product information for ETS 3 Professional only needs the application program and the description of the parameters and the communication objects.
ETS 3 Starter works with standard channels, a concept that is not known to ETS 3 Professional. So, the product database for an ETS 3 Started product needs to additionally contain the description of how these models of channels are realised by a given device.

That's the point: I'll use the ETS for personal use only.

This is the whole misinterpretation of ETS 3 Starter. Many users and participants in this forum originally thought it was the successor of the ETS2 Demo, which was indeed affordable for the home owner. In ETS 3 Professional, there is no successor for ETS2 Demo yet. EIBA DOES consider a license for the home owner, with limited functionality and proce, but this has not yet been finalised. There is thus no alternave to ETS 3 Professional for personal use yet.
