The customer needs to get signals over a school playing field without digging it up.
Does anone know of EIB devices that will allow telegrams to be sent over 250m other than twisted pair.
KNX RF technology does not go over 100m in free space.

Hello Colin,

what about Ethernet? I´m sure, that the school has already setup a TCP/IP Network, which can be used to transmit EIB-Telegrams as well. There are already several device available. If you can specify your needs, I´m sure that we will the best solution.

Good idea, but this is going to a plant building housing outside lights and swimming pool controls. I doubt it will have a LAN connection there.
Is there anything like a higher power radio transmitter, or microwave that would be legal?

What about a WLAN Connection instead a wired one? In connection with the suitable EIB device it should work.
I´m not sure about the best device. There are EIB-port, EIB-node, IP-router etc.
Perhaps the Pro´s here could give you the advice for the best device.

I mean, eibNode (http://www.bab-tec.biz/index.php?id=111&L=1) in combination with professional WLAN devices from 3COM (for example) you have the best and plainest solution.

Here we go..

have a look at the attached file:

There is a simple solution to use the KNX EIB/IP-Router to get the EIB-Telegrams connected to TCP/IP. The listprice excl. Tax is 590 Euro. You need min. 2 of this. They send the telegrams in transparency on ethernet and back to KNX EIB.

After you got this you may use all the TCP/IP-Devices there are used in the world. For example WLAN-Routers.
